HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after a man was found dead inside a home in the Woodland Heights area around noon on Tuesday, according to the Houston Police Department. HPD said that officers responded to the shooting at a home on the 900 block of Omar Street, near Julian Street at 12 p.m. Initially, police thought the shooting may have been self-inflicted, but soon homicide detectives were called. "Right now it's so early in the investigation, we're still trying to piece everything together what led to this shooting," HPD detective Sarin Chettry said. "It does look like it is a homicide at this point, but we're still so early on into the investigation but can't determine if it's going to be a criminal homicide or not." Investigators detained one person, questioned him, and then released him. Real estate records confirm the house where the shooting happened is owned by the family living next door. I do feel very safe in this neighborhood.
