CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man will spend 22 years in prison after a motorcycle crash that killed a 4-year-old in March 2025. Charles County Circuit Court judge sentenced Mark McCarthy, 39, on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to a charge of DWI - death of a person, according to the county’s prosecuting attorney’s office. He also pleaded guilty to driving with a revoked or suspended license, driving a motorcycle when his license was not valid for operation, failing to register a motor vehicle, and driving a vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility. On March 30, 2025, McCarthy was driving a motorcycle along Mexico Road while intoxicated and with Calvin Spurlock, 4, as a passenger. The motorcycle hit a utility pole, and both were ejected in the crash.
