CMPD identified the man as Jerricho Alexander, 33. He surrendered to SWAT officers around 4:25 a.m. Tuesday after a standoff that began the previous evening, police said.

Alexander was taken into custody and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, attempted murder, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, and possession of a firearm by a felon. "I'm proud of the men and women of CMPD and the way they handled this incident from start to finish," CMPD Deputy Chief Jacquelyn Bryley said in a statement. "Through diligent investigative work, they identified and located a suspect connected to a shooting.
