Man killed in officer-involved shooting in Georgetown was arrested earlier that day, police say

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Williamson County Sheriff Matthew Lindemann and District Attorney Shawn Dick said the man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Georgetown Saturday was arrested and released from jail earlier that day after officials determined there was not enough information in his arrest affidavit to establish probable cause. According to the press release, a Williamson County sheriff's deputy encountered Timothy Xayyaraj at St. David's Hospital in Round Rock during the early morning hours of Aug. The encounter led to Xayyaraj's arrest and he was taken to the Williamson County Jail. However, officials said a review of the arrest affidavit found it lacked sufficient information required by law to establish probable cause. "Upon review of the arrest affidavit, which by law requires the name of the charge and specific facts of the offense, it was determined the affidavit lacked sufficient information to establish probable cause," the statement said.
