Man killed in Payson plane crash remembered as 'loving, caring' person

PAYSON, Ariz. — A man killed Monday evening in a plane crash near Payson is being remembered as a "caring, loving" person who had a passion for airplanes. Brad Lawrence, 75, and Carter Buckner, 19, both sustained fatal injuries after a plane they were in crashed in the Mazatzal Wilderness west of Payson, according to the Gila County Sheriff's Office. No other occupants were aboard the plane. Debbie Snow, who had been married to Lawrence for many years, recalled her ex-husband being a considerate, welcoming person and a true extrovert. "He opened doors, he complimented me all the time. He wanted to be the hero, he loved to take people up on airplane rides," Snow said.
