Man killed in Upstate NY glider collision identified
Edinburg, N.Y. — State police have identified the man who died after two gliders collided in midair Friday afternoon in Saratoga County. Morzillo, 80, of Saratoga Springs, was the pilot of one of the gliders and died in the crash, state police said in a news release Saturday night. The investigation determined Morzillo was flying with a group of gliders when his aircraft collided with another glider around 2:26 p.m. The contact caused Morzillo to lose control of the aircraft, which crashed in the area of Wheeler Road in Edinburg, troopers said. The group of gliders was assisted into the air by a plane that flew out of Saratoga County Airport.
