A Massachusetts man who was convicted of shooting a person to death in broad daylight in front of a church has been granted parole. Ezequiel Arroyo was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2002 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, but on Sept. 4 the state’s parole board voted to release him after 24 years, according to parole documents . In May 1998, Arroyo sought revenge against Luis Rivera after Rivera took property from the apartment Arroyo shared with his girlfriend. Arroyo, then 18, armed himself with a handgun while his girlfriend purchased a pair of one-way airline tickets to Puerto Rico under aliases.
