A physical confrontation turned deadly Sunday after a fight downtown, the San Antonio Police Department said. Officers responded on a shooting call just before 5 a.m. in the 600 block of Hemisfair Plaza Way, which is located near South Alamo Street. When officers arrived, they located a 35-year-old man, later identified as Jonathan Alderete, with at least one gunshot wound. Alderete was transported to a local hospital, but SAPD said he later died from his injuries. According to an SAPD preliminary report, officers learned Alderete and an unknown suspect were in a fight before the suspect allegedly shot and killed Alderete.
