Many generations value Venetucci Farm’s Great Pumpkin generosity

Source Scout · The Gazette reports: Venetucci Farm in the Security-Widefield area is celebrating its 90th birthday as its fall pumpkin and harvest festival gets underway on Friday and runs through October. The nonprofit organization that oversees the old family farm, the Pikes Peak Real Estate Foundation, also is recognizing a difficult hurdle: 10 years have passed since contamination of the area’s primary aquifer forced the 192-acre farm to pivot its entire operations. Since then, livestock such as pigs, cows, chickens and horses are no longer raised on the land and produce that had been grown on site has been replaced by non-edible offerings such as fresh flowers.
