SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said a man allegedly "rushed at police with a large knife" before he was shot in the leg by a male officer at Elizabeth East on Wednesday. He said the man continued to charge forward and allegedly "managed to stab a senior constable in the neck". The 27-year-old Woodville Gardens man faced the Elizabeth Magistrates Court via phone on several charges , including attempted murder and aggravated assault, and was remanded in custody until a further hearing in November. Commissioner Stevens praised senior constable "Jessie" and her police partner for showing "significant courage".
