Karina was a Category 4 hurricane in the North Pacific Ocean early Monday Hawaii time, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory . Karina is the 11th named storm to form in the Eastern Pacific in 2026. Flash flooding can occur well inland and away from the storm’s center. Even weaker storms can produce excessive rainfall that can flood low-lying areas. Satellite imagery can help determine the strength, size and cohesion of a storm.
