Middleton teen killed while riding bike. Driver faces vehicular manslaughter charge

A 14-year-old Middleton High School student has died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike on Friday, according to the Middleton Police Department. Alyssa Louise Anderson, the driver of the vehicle, has been arrested and booked into the Canyon County Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter, aggravated DUI, and leaving the scene of an injury accident, according to online court records. The student was hit on Willis Road between Edzell Avenue and Emmett Road. The bicyclist was initially taken by helicopter to St. Luke’s Boise, but he died from his injuries, the Middleton Police Department said in a social media post . “Out of respect for his family, we will not be releasing the young man’s name,” Middleton police wrote. “Our thoughts are with his parents, family, friends and everyone who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.” The Middleton Police Department says the investigation into the accident remains active.
