Mother and 5-year-old child shot in vehicle attack in Ocala

OCALA, Fla. — A mother and her 5-year-old child were shot Monday night after someone opened fire on the family’s vehicle in Ocala, police said. The shooting was reported around 9:45 p.m. Monday near Southeast 11th Avenue, according to the Ocala Police Department. Police said a father, mother and their child were driving south when a vehicle behind them began shooting. Their vehicle was hit several times.
