New Haven man gets 30 years in prison for 2023 fatal drive-by shooting
NEW HAVEN — A city man has been sentenced to decades in prison for a 2023 fatal drive-by shooting, officials said. In a release, the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice said Joseph Dominick, 21, was sentenced in the state Superior Court in New Haven to an effective 30 years in prison followed by five years of probation. Officials said the sentencing comes after Dominick pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter with a firearm on July 13. They said he was charged for the fatal shooting of Shaquille Chazz Pearson, 29, of New Haven, during a street altercation in the area of East Pearl Street and Grand Avenue in New Haven. Police responded at 4:41 p.m. the day of the shooting to East Pearl Street and Grand Avenue after multiple 911 calls reported that a man was laying in the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds.
