New poll shows hatred for Trump is driving Democrats to the polls for midterm election

He is not on the ballot, but President Donald Trump looms large over November’s midterm elections, according to a new poll. More than half of voters planning to cast ballots for a Democratic congressional candidate, 54%, say they are doing so to “stop Donald Trump and Republicans from getting their policies,” according to a CBS News/YouGov survey released Sunday. Another 46% planning to vote Democrat say they will do so to “help the Democrats get their policies.” Trump is also the main motivation for voters planning to vote for a Republican congressional candidate in November, the survey found. A little more than four in 10 Harris voters, 41%, said they are “a lot more motivated” to vote for the Democratic candidate in their congressional district while 41% said they are “equally motivated.” Among Trump voters in 2024, 31% said they are “a lot more motivated” to cast their ballots for the Republican House candidate in their district in November. Another 45% said they are “equally motivated” to vote for the GOP candidate this year.
