New wildfire in southeast Colorado: Broce fire in Las Animas County reaches 400 acres

A new wildfire in southern Colorado had reached an estimated 400 acres Monday night, according to Las Animas County officials. The blaze, called the Broce fire, is burning north of the town of Kim and west of Colorado 109. Kim is about 165 miles southeast of Colorado Springs, near the Colorado-New Mexico-Oklahoma border. The Kim Area Volunteer Fire Department is currently battling the grass-and-brush fire, with aid from several area departments, according to a department Facebook post.
