New York police official accused of driving getaway car for her son after shooting: report

A deputy commissioner of public safety for a police department in New York is no longer employed after she was accused of driving a getaway car for her son in connection with a gang-related shooting, according to reports. WABC reported that Jennifer Lackard, 49, and her son, Chase Lackard, 20, were arrested at their home on Tuesday. Citing prosecutors, the media outlet noted that Chase Lackard fired multiple shots at a suspected rival gang member in June before leaving the scene in a car driven by his mother. No one was hit by the gunfire, per the report. Jennifer and Chase Lackard were each charged attempted murder, attempted assault, criminal possession of a firearm, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment, the outlet noted.
