No charges filed after driver fatally shot man who broke car window, police say

Austin police released a motorist without filing charges after investigators said he fatally shot a man who smashed his vehicle’s window with a pocketknife near Tech Ridge Boulevard. The man who died was identified Tuesday as 42-year-old Zachary Page. Police said he had been asking for spare change from motorists last Friday afternoon near the northbound Interstate 35 frontage road. Witnesses told investigators that Page began hitting one of the vehicles stopped near the intersection before pulling out a folding knife and breaking a window, according to police.
