Nordic nations ‘have lost confidence in Infantino’, demand FIFA reforms

Six Nordic football associations have delivered a united blow to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, declaring they have lost confidence in his leadership while demanding sweeping governance reforms at world football’s governing body. The six Nordic FIFA members – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the Faroe Islands – met in Helsinki and issued a rare joint statement on Sunday, backing calls for Infantino’s resignation from three major regional confederations. On Friday, Denmark’s football association pledged to find a credible alternative to Infantino in March’s presidential election. Infantino is under pressure from three confederations to resign: UEFA, the AFC and CONCACAF.
