NTSB releases preliminary investigation report in Bethany, Missouri plane crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its initial findings in an Aug. 4 plane crash that killed one person in Bethany, Missouri. The NTSB says the pilot of a single-engine airplane that crashed in Harrison County, flew into Class A airspace without clearance from air traffic control. The pilot and airplane owner was flying the aircraft out of Peoria International Airport in Peoria, Illinois with a flight path to Rapid City, South Dakota, according to the investigation report. During the flight, the pilot reached altitudes above 18,000 ft above mean sea level (MSL).
