O.C. Parks employee, 25, killed in 'tragic work accident'

A 25-year-old Orange County Parks employee was killed over the weekend in a rollover crash in Trabuco Canyon that his family described as “a tragic work accident.” The crash occurred just before 1:20 p.m. on Aug. 29 at 30892 Trabuco Canyon Road in O’Neill Regional Park, according to the California Highway Patrol. Details remain limited, but officials with the Orange County Sheriff's Department told The Orange County Register that the victim was identified as Luis Alberto Casas, a Garden Grove resident. It remains unclear whether anyone else was in the vehicle when it rolled 200 to 300 feet down an embankment, prompting an air rescue team to respond to the scene. Authorities have not said whether Casas was on duty at the time of the crash or whether he was driving an Orange County Parks vehicle.
