CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person was shot and killed by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer in north Charlotte on Friday. The shooting happened around 2:45 p.m. near a gas station along LaSalle Street at Newland Road, just west of I-77. Officers saw a group of individuals engaging in a "criminal transaction." Officers chased a person who walked off from the scene. Police say multiple commands were given to the person to stop. Police say the person pulled out a firearm and then was shot by officers.
