Officer shoots dog after being attacked during Los Angeles call

A Los Angeles police officer shot a dog after authorities say the animal attacked and bit another officer as police were leaving the scene of a domestic dispute in the Harbor region of Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. Thursday in the 11000 block of Towne Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers assigned to LAPD’s Southeast Division had responded to a report of a domestic dispute and were walking back to their patrol vehicle after concluding the call when three unrestrained dogs emerged from the property, police said. The dogs charged at the officers in the street, and one attacked an officer, prompting another officer to open fire, according to LAPD.
