Officials praise first-responders after Waynesboro school shooting | Live

Augusta County officials said all students, teachers and staff were safely evacuated from Westwood Hills Elementary School after a morning shooting on Wednesday, Sept. Earlier in the morning, the Augusta County Sheriff's Office said the incident was "contained and secured at this time." According to a News Leader reporter at the scene at 548 Rosser Ave., Waynesboro police are at the school along with Virginia State Police, Augusta County Sheriff's Office and numerous other law enforcement agencies. Students were taken to Westminister Presbyterian Church at 1904 Mt. Vernon St. in Waynesboro to meet with their families at the lower fellowship hall. The Waynesboro Police Department and Waynesboro Public Schools will conduct a media press conference about the incident today at Westwood Hills Elementary School, according to Sergeant E.A.
