Oregon football reveals availability report ahead of USC matchup

Through a partnership with Report for America , a nonprofit that supports and funds journalists in newsrooms across the country, The Oregonian/OregonLive is launching a “ Business & culture of women’s sports” beat . The reporter will cover the WNBA’s Portland Fire , delving into the team’s impact on college, high school and even youth sports in Portland and beyond. The reporter will continue the great coverage that reporter Nik Streng launched for us on the Fire, such as his recent report on Katy Steding , a basketball star from Lake Oswego who won Olympic gold on Team USA and played for the Portland Power, the city’s first professional women’s team . The coverage will include WNBA recruiting, games and player profiles, but also how the popularity of women’s sports has risen meteorically, especially here in the Rose City.
