Owosso local raises concern after early morning train derailment

Roads in Owosso have reopened and cleanup is underway after a 6-car Great Lakes Central train carrying soybeans derailed early in the morning; officials said there were no injuries, hazardous releases, or public safety concerns. OWOSSO, Mich. (WJRT) - Roads have reopened and restoration crews are on site after an early morning train derailment in Owosso. The Great Lakes Central Railroad was carrying tons of soybeans when it derailed around 1:45 a.m. Rusted pieces of track and chunks of rail were visible at the scene. "It was about 1:45 and I actually got up and came outside because I thought maybe there was a car crash," said Don Reich. Reich is tired of the state of Owosso's rail lines.
