TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to KOLD that Alex James Barnett is in custody. The arrest comes after the PCSD says they served a search warrant at an apartment complex near Camino Seco and Broadway in connection to last week’s murder of TPD recruit Carlos Ramirez, and the shooting injury of his fiancé. The PCSD says the Pima Regional SWAT Team responded to the apartment complex about 6:00 p.m. Barnett surrendered after a three hour standoff. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says no one was hurt during the standoff and some nearby apartments were evacuated as a precaution. --------------------------------------------------- Two of the three suspects in the fatal shooting of TPD recruit Carlos Ramirez have been located.

According to court records, Barnett has a long and violent criminal history in Pima County. Early in the morning on Wednesday, the 23-year-old Ramirez was found shot to death in his home while his pregnant fiancée, a current PCSD corrections officer, was injured. Rogers was ordered not to have any contact with the surviving victim or Ramirez’s family and is being held without bond.
