A pedestrian died Thursday evening after she was struck by a car in New Castle, according to Delaware State Police. According to troopers, around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, a Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on North Dupont Highway, north of Stahl Avenue. At the same time, a woman walked across the road, directly into the path of the Toyota. The Toyota then struck the pedestrian.

The driver of the Toyota, an 18-year-old woman from New Castle, was not injured. Troopers said the road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
