Pedestrian killed, good Samaritan hurt in Milwaukee hit-and-run

A 24-year-old pedestrian was killed and a person trying to help was injured after two separate vehicles struck them late Monday night in Milwaukee. Milwaukee police said the crash happened around 11:15 p.m. on North Teutonia Avenue, near Ruby Avenue. Police said a vehicle traveling south on Teutonia Avenue struck the 24-year-old woman in the street and kept driving. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Nora Jean Winkels. The medical examiner's office said she "was having a verbal argument with a possible significant other when she stepped into the road." A 44-year-old witness saw the crash and stopped to help the her.
