Pedestrian killed in overnight International District crash
Driver was not impaired and speed was not a factor in crash, police say A pedestrian was struck and killed late Wednesday in the International District. Police were dispatched around 11 p.m. to the area of Utah and Central NE and learned that a pedestrian had been hit by a blue Chevy truck traveling southbound on Utah from Chico NE, said Gilbert Gallegos, spokesperson for the Albuquerque Police Department. “The vehicle struck a pedestrian about center block between Chico and Central,” Gallegos said. “The pedestrian appeared to be crouched in the roadway in a low-lit area of the road.” Police did not identify the pedestrian, who died after being transported to the hospital, on Wednesday. Gallegos said the driver was not impaired and speed was not a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation. Nakayla McClelland covers crime and breaking news.
