ENCINITAS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a northbound Amtrak Surfliner train in Encinitas shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the Encinitas Fire Department. The collision happened at the D Street railroad crossing. Encinitas fire crews were the first to respond to the incident and determined the victim was deceased at the scene, officials said.
