CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A person was killed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police in a shooting on Friday afternoon just north of Uptown Charlotte. At around 2:40 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, police said they received a 911 call for a disturbance near the intersection of Lasalle Street and Newland Road in the Lincoln Heights area. Chief Estella Patterson said when officers arrived they saw a large group of people unrelated to the initial 911 call nearby in what appeared to be a “criminal transaction.” It was not immediately clear what the “criminal transaction” was. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said one of the people saw officers and immediately started to walk away.
