GRAHAM, Wash. — A 5-year-old girl was mauled to death by a dog in late August, according to Pierce County Sheriff Keith Swank. 13 incident , Pierce County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to reports of a child who had been fatally attacked by a "large animal" on the 30200 block of 92nd Avenue East in Graham. Initially, officers could not confirm what kind of animal killed the girl, but noted than an "aggressive" dog blocked first responders from providing medical care to the girl. Deputies had to shoot the dog in order to reach her. Swank said the dog was a Cane Corso known to the girl and her family.
