A Pittsburg police officer and a man being booked into jail were shot during an altercation in the city’s police headquarters Thursday, officials said. Both the officer and suspect were hospitalized and are in stable condition. During the incident, a firearm was discharged, striking both the officer and suspect. Pittsburg police said that they had arrested a 31-year-old man on Thursday and transported him to the police department where “a physical altercation between the suspect and a solo officer occurred.” City officials said that emergency crews were called to the police department’s headquarters around 3:45 p.m.
