RIGBY — Authorities have identified the man who died on Saturday after he reportedly shot himself in a Rigby bar after a confrontation with law enforcement. The Rigby Police Chief, Allen Fullmer, has identified the man as Cory Carter Bates, 45, of Lewisville. According to a news release from the Rigby Police Department, Bates was waving his handgun around at the Off Ramp Bar and Grill and causing a disturbance. RELATED | 1 dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound in confrontation with law enforcement in Rigby Rigby Police officers and Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 1:45 p.m. “While officers were giving him commands to drop the firearm, he turned the firearm on himself,” according to the news release.
