Poll shows Trump ally within single digits of Dem incumbent in deep blue state

With six weeks to go until Election Day, a new poll of likely voters shows Republican Bruce Blakeman within single digits of incumbent Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. The survey from Siena University shows Hochul up by nine points in the race, 50%-41%, per the New York Post. “At this time four years ago, Hochul led Lee Zeldin by 17 points, 54%-37%, before going on to win by six points,” said Siena pollster Steven Greenberg. Last month, Hochul led Blakeman 49%-39%. “All polls continue to show Kathy Hochul’s downward spiral and me closing the gap as New Yorkers learn more about my plan to cut income taxes by historic margins and slash electric bills in half,” said Blakeman, the Nassau County Executive who has been backed by President Donald Trump.
