Postal worker critically injured in Northeast Philly crash, police say

A United States Post Office worker has been hospitalized in critical condition after, police said, a driver struck him as he stood behind a postal vehicle collecting mail in Northeast Philly on Thursday. According to police, the incident happened at about 2:38 p.m. on Thursday along the 4300 block of Ashburner Street in Northeast Philly, as a 48-year-old postal worker stood behind a postal vehicle while collecting mail for delivery. At that time, a vehicle headed westbound on Ashburner Street struck the post office employee and continued on to crash into the postal vehicle, police said. Officials said the impact drove the postal vehicle onto the sidewalk and into a fence.
