Pursuit ends with driver found shot at Baton Rouge corner store, LSP says

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - More than a dozen Louisiana State Police (LSP) units responded to a corner store between North Ardenwood and Renoir on Wednesday, Sept. 16, after a vehicle pursuit ended there. Troopers started pursuing the driver around 6 p.m. and got out of their vehicles to approach the driver after the pursuit ended at the store, according to LSP. “They noticed that the suspect was unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound to the head,” said Shelby Mayfield with Louisiana State Police Troop A. Troopers began life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and transported the driver to a nearby hospital, according to LSP. “At this time in the investigation, there is no indication that any trooper fired a weapon during this event,” Mayfield said. State police have not confirmed the driver’s identity.
