‘Put the knife down’ SAPD releases video of fatal officer-involved shooting

Newly released SAPD video shows an officer repeatedly ordering Gregory Boaz to drop two knives before police say he ran toward the officer and was fatally shot. The San Antonio Police Department has released video showing the moments leading up to a fatal officer-involved shooting in August, when police said a man experiencing hallucinations ran toward an officer with a knife in each hand. The shooting occurred shortly before midnight Aug. 16 in the 6700 block of Spring Front Drive. It was SAPD's seventh officer-involved shooting of 2026.
