RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Isaiah Taha, of Rapid City, appeared at the Pennington County Courthouse on Tuesday to change his plea to no contest for second-degree manslaughter. Authorities say that 16-year-old Kade Potter was shot and killed in 2024 with a stolen Smith and Wesson pistol inside of a vehicle. Taha was charged with first-degree manslaughter, grand theft, possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor and obstructing law enforcement. In exchange for the plea agreement, the manslaughter charge has been reduced from first to second-degree and the remaining charges have been dismissed. His sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday Sept.
