Nancy Tucker's remains were found Saturday when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began to clear debris on Jackson Island, in the northeast corner of the state. The Washington County, Tennessee, Sheriff's Office confirmed Tucker's identity on Monday. "Since September 2024, thousands of hours have gone into searching, coordinating resources, following leads, and keeping the promise that efforts would continue until every missing member of our community was accounted for," the Washington County Emergency Management Agency wrote in a statement .

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration described the storm as the "deadliest hurricane in the contiguous U.S. since Katrina in 2005." It's unclear how many more people may still be missing from the storm, but Tucker was the last reported person missing in Washington County, Tennessee, from the hurricane, WCYB reported.
