Savannah Police investigates death in Chippewa Square Tuesday morning

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - There was a large police presence at Chippewa Square Tuesday morning. On the scene our crews saw portions of the square blocked off and Savannah Police investigating. We reached out to Savannah Police who confirmed they responded to a suicide at this location. “Earlier this morning public safety personnel responded to an incident in Chippewa Square involving a deceased individual. There is no ongoing threat to the public, and the area has since been cleared. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation while responders are on scene,” wrote Savannah Police in a statement on social media. “The incident resulted in temporary traffic impacts in the surrounding area while first responders conducted their work.
