SDSU soccer breaks ground on brand new stadium

BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) — South Dakota State women's soccer has been a huge success since hitting the pitch in 2000 and on Tuesday afternoon the team marked the beginning of its next era with a groundbreaking for a brand new stadium. The shovels went down, dirt came up and the brand new home of SDSU women's soccer, Dakota Layers Stadium is set to open on campus next year. "I can assure you this project will make a huge difference in all the things that we're doing and not only did our soccer program get better today our athletic department got better today and our university got better today," Justin Sell, SDSU Athletic Director said. This stadium was made possible thanks in large part to a donation by the Ramsdell family and Dakota Layers. "This day has been super special to us.
