Severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings issued for Ashe County

ASHE COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - A severe thunderstorm warning and a flash flood warning were issued for Ashe County on Tuesday afternoon. Both were issued around noon on July 28; the flash flood warning remains in effect until 6:30 p.m., while the severe thunderstorm warning expires at 1:15 p.m. The National Weather Service in Blacksburg said 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain have already fallen in the area, with another 2 to 4 inches possible in an hour. --> More weather: Heat advisory issued for Chesterfield County Forecasters said flash flooding is ongoing or expected, and warned that small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying areas could be impacted. Weather officials said severe thunderstorms were moving over Twin Oaks, Virginia, heading southeast at 25 mph.
