Shelter-in-place order lifted in Deep River, Ont., after stabbing

DEEP RIVER - A shelter-in-place order issued after a stabbing in a town northwest of Petawawa, Ont., was lifted Thursday afternoon. Police say officers responded to the area of McElligott Drive in Deep River, where a victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon. Officers issued a notice urging residents to stay indoors with all doors and windows locked as the search for a suspect continued. Officials said Thursday morning that the town's facilities and a school were closed, students in another school were kept indoors all day and school buses were cancelled. In an afternoon update, police said the shelter-in-place order has been lifted, but they didn’t say whether a suspect was taken into custody.
