Sheriffs and other incumbents hold on in key Jefferson, Shelby County races
Source Scout · AL.com reports: Incumbents fought to hold onto their seats as voters in Jefferson and Shelby counties kept current sheriffs in office, while a Jefferson County Commissioner won in a particularly close race. The ballot included contests for sheriff, county commission, school board and other county offices, including that of Jefferson County Commissioner Jimmie Stephens, who took on a coach and minister whose past troubles figured into the pre-election narrative - a race decided by fewer than 600 votes. Jefferson County had three contested races: County Commission District 3, sheriff and assistant tax assessor for the Bessemer Division.
