MALDEN, Wash. — A small town between Spokane and Pullman is under immediate evacuation orders due to a "rapidly developing" wildfire in the area. Residents of Malden are under a Level 3 "Go Now" evacuation. The town of Rosalia, to the east of Malden, is under a Level 2: "Be Set" order. An evacuation center has been established at Oakesdale High School. A wildfire that has sparked near the area of John Tye Road to the north of town has "rapidly developed," Pullman officials said, and is about 200 acres as of 4:15 p.m., according to the Whitman County Sheriff's Office.
