Son of Loveland woman killed in 2022 I-25 crash gets $65M in damages

An orphaned 14-year-old was awarded $65 million by a Larimer County jury in a wrongful death lawsuit filed after the boy's mother was killed in a 2022 crash on Interstate 25 when an improperly loaded excavator hit a bridge, causing debris to hit their car. About 6 p.m. on Aug. 8, 2022, Megan Arneson was driving northbound on I-25 near Mead with her then-10-year-old son in the car when Darnell Yingling, a driver for Import Auto Inc., attempted to pass their car in his tractor trailer as they went under the overpass for Weld County Road 34, according to a news release from Dulin, McQuinn and Young, one of the law offices that represented Arneson's family in the wrongful death lawsuit. Yingling's trailer was carrying an excavator that he had improperly loaded, according to the news release.
