The attack occurred on Tuesday night in the KwaMakhutha township, which lies approximately 30 kilometres (19 miles) south of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal province. Among the fatalities in the attack, a pregnant woman lost her life. According to police reports, there were 13 men and the woman in the party at the house when three people shot at the crowd.
