Stabbing suspect found behind deli counter of Mocksville Food Lion appears in court, victims speak out

Authorities are investigating a stabbing at a Food Lion in Mocksville. The Davie County Sheriff’s Office said the stabbing occurred Sunday just after 8:30 p.m. at the store located on Valley Road. Deputies said when they arrived on scene that both the victim and the suspect were in the store. Investigators said the suspect, Eric Burgess, 36, was located behind the deli counter and taken into custody without incident. Investigators said the victim dropped off his wife at the front door and pulled into a parking space to wait on his wife along with his children inside their vehicle.
